Project Description

The project aims to empower Musahar women and strengthen their representation in local decision-making procedures for promoting gender-responsive local governance in two rural municipalities and two town municipalities. It will work through three main approaches: empowerment of Musahar women to claim their rights, accountability of local government authorities, and strengthening multi-stakeholder partnerships for gender-responsive local governance.

Project Objective

The project aims to empower Musahar women and enhance their representation in local decision-making procedures for promoting gender-responsive local governance in two rural municipalities and two town municipalities of Sarlahi based in province 2 of Nepal.

The expected outcomes of the project are:

Outcome 1 : Enhanced capacity and networking of marginalized Musahar women to increase their participation in local governance and planning;

Outcome 2 : Increased responsiveness of local government authorities and male counterparts;

Outcome 3 : Increased effectiveness and collaboration of civil society actors, media and policy makers.

Project’s path to impact

It is envisioned that in order to promote gender responsive local government there should be efforts for strengthening leadership capacity of Indigenous Musahar women; improving accountability of local government authorities and enhancing collaboration of Civil Society, Media and Government stakeholders

Approach

Human rights-based approaches focusing on three operational approaches;

  • Empowerment: Musahar women leadership and networking;
  • Mutual accountability approach: Local government authorities’ sensitization on gender responsive local governance;
  • Multi-stakeholder partnership approach: Joint efforts of civil society, media and local government.

Project Description:

It is believed that Full Moon Day brings positive energy in people’s life. Capitalizing such positive energy into a synergy towards pertinent issues of the country, South Asia Partnership Nepal in collaboration with likeminded organizations organize gathering of civil society, intellectuals, academicians and professionals from different fields in major/every Full Moon Day to share on pertinent issues. It is a gathering of development professionals of different field organized and united by common interest and values.  Discussion/ Interaction on pertinent issues of the country along with the entertainment programs like documentary show, musical concert, are carried out in the event. Moreover, in some events a popular celebrity guest are invited to share his/her achievements which has been an inspiration to other people, and whose contribution has impacted several lives. In every event 50 to 100 subjects experts are invited and the program is mostly held in SAP- Falcha,  Babarmahal, Kathmandu.

Aims and Objectives:

  • To create common plat form of development professionals
  • To bring up hidden potentialities of nation builders
  • To discuss on some pertinent issues
  • To document and disseminate major sharing and key learning
