Under the “Strengthening gender-responsive governance in Nepal” implemented by SAP Nepal with the financial support from UNDEF, to meet one of the objectives of “Enhanced capacity and networking of marginalized Musahar women to increase their participation in local governance process and planning.”, REFLECT session has been designed for creating platform for continuous engagement of the Musahar women in learning and leadership development process. Next 32 session of REFLECT session was conducted on “Gender equality and women leadership” focusing on enhancing leadership quality in Musahar women who were otherwise confined to household chores and not active in social activities earlier.
Since majority of the WoMEF members are illiterate, flex was used for explaining gender equality and women leadership. The flex showing the different roles of women in the society was used by the facilitator for conducting rich discussion and reflecting on the participants personal experiences of gender roles and discrimination. Total of 32 session in 32 different WoMEF has been conducted on gender equality and women leadership on different dates from February to August 2022. Total of 1556 Musahar women has been sensitized on gender equality and women leadership. The Musahar women also together discussed the ways of overcoming the challenges in taking up leadership roles in the community. The facilitator has also encouraged Musahar women to take up leadership roles in their respective community, wards and municipality for upliftment of their community.
