CAPACITY TO CONSTRUCTIVELY ENGAGE WITH GOVERNMENT
SAP-Nepal believes that major role of NGOs are to play supplementary and complementary role in government intervention. At the same time the other role of civil society organizations in democratic countries is to perform role of watch dog and/or pressure group to influence policies in favor of citizens. Civil Society Organization should play bridging role between right holders and duty bearers in order to widen negotiated space for democratic discourses. The organization has more than 20 years long experience of working with government stakeholders. Some of the areas for constructive engagement of government stakeholders are joint monitoring of project and programs, sharing of information on regular basis, interactive dialogues on pertinent issues, etc. On the other hand, collaboration with local CSOs bring avenues to engagement with local government agencies at the district level.
